WALLA WALLA, WA – Jane Barry put together the best tournament of her career at the Walla Walla Invitational to start the season and tied for third to lead No. 25 LC State Women’s Golf. The Warrior women placed third overall at the Cascade Conference tournament.

“I am very proud of the women and the way they battled today,” coach Zach Anderson said. “Specifically, Jane and Taylor (Mire) who got off to some tough starts with some big numbers but instead of accepting that, they fought back. Overall, some of the most impressive things I’ve seen from our women’s teams in the past three years happened this tournament. I think this tournament taught us a lot of what we can expect out of this team this year.”

No. 2 British Columbia took home the team title and No. 19 Oregon Tech was second. UBC’s Keira Hou won the individual title.

Barry finished the tournament with a round of 3-over, 75 to tie for third with a 3-over tournament total of 147. Isabella Barquet also placed in the top 10 in a tie for ninth. The junior shot a 78 to wrap up the tournament with a 9-over, 153.

Senior Dallis Shockey tied for 11th in the field of 43 and shaved two strokes off her first-round score with a 76. She finished the two rounds at 10-over, 154.

Taylor Mire wrapped up her collegiate debut with a 79 to tie for 15th. Giulia Belfontali rounded out the group in 28th place after a round of 86 for a two-round total of 167.

“This conference is strong this year and we are excited to continue to raise the level of golf we compete at,” Anderson said. “A few days to get ready for the ever important NWIA.”
