Washington Man Crashes Into Guardrail, Found in Ahsahka After Fleeing Scene

OROFINO, ID – A Washington man was cited after fleeing the scene of a single-vehicle crash on Viewpoint Road Tuesday afternoon, according to the Clearwater County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to the incident at about 3:52 p.m. on September 9, 2025. Reports from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and other callers indicated the driver had left the scene after crashing.

Deputies found a 2021 yellow Subaru Crosstrek that had failed to negotiate a curve, striking both a guardrail and a tree. The vehicle sustained significant damage and was removed from the scene by Johnboy’s Towing.

The driver, identified as 54-year-old Paul Anderson of Chattaroy, Washington, was later located in Ahsahka. Authorities said Anderson was not injured in the crash.

He received citations for failure to notify upon striking highway fixtures and for driving with an invalid license, first offense.
