PULLMAN, WA – The City of Pullman Police Department reports that a puppy was discovered abandoned in a roadside ditch earlier this week.

According to the department, Code Enforcement Officer Loop found the dog locked in a kennel with some food and supplies. The puppy, estimated to be 10–12 weeks old, was taken to safety and later brought by the police office.

The department noted that intentionally abandoning an animal is considered Animal Cruelty in the Second Degree under Washington state law. Authorities urge anyone unable to care for a pet to contact the Whitman County Humane Society for assistance or resources.

The case remains under review.
