Nez Perce County to Redirect Solid Waste to Asotin Landfill Beginning October 1

LEWISTON, ID – The Nez Perce County Board of Commissioners has announced that starting October 1, 2025, solid waste from unincorporated areas of Nez Perce County will be disposed of directly at the Asotin County Regional Landfill.

The change does not affect residents of the City of Lewiston. Curbside and bulky waste customers serviced by Inland North Waste and Sunshine Disposal Inc. will also see no change in their service.

However, residents of unincorporated Nez Perce County who currently haul waste directly to the City of Lewiston Transfer Station will need to take their loads to the Asotin County Regional Landfill beginning October 1. These direct-haul customers must obtain a permit from the Nez Perce County Commissioners’ Office, located on the third floor of the new county courthouse at 1230 Main Street in Lewiston.

The permit, which will hang from a vehicle’s rearview mirror, will allow landfill attendants to charge the load to Nez Perce County rather than to the individual customer.

County officials say the change is expected to reduce costs for residents on their solid waste bills
