OLYMPIA, WA — Governor Bob Ferguson has officially proclaimed September 11, 2025, as First Responders’ Day in Washington state, recognizing the sacrifices and service of first responders across the state.
The proclamation honors career and volunteer responders, including law enforcement officers, firefighters, emergency medical personnel, search and rescue teams, 911 dispatchers, and other public safety professionals. Governor Ferguson noted their constant readiness to protect communities, often at personal risk.
“First responders take on significant risk every day to help those in need,” Ferguson stated. “As we honor Patriot Day and those who lost their lives on September 11th, I also proclaimed today First Responders’ Day in Washington to recognize their critical role in protecting the public in the event of an emergency.”
The proclamation cites the extensive education, training, and personal sacrifice required of first responders, as well as their role in providing lifesaving services to Washingtonians 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Ferguson urged all residents of the state to take part in recognizing the contributions of first responders and to reflect on the commitment, dedication, and expertise they bring to public safety.
