LEWISTON, ID – The Lewiston Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Sunday evening at a residence in the 3700 block of 11th Street.

According to police, officers responded to a 911 call at approximately 8:10 p.m. on September 14 reporting that a female had been shot. When officers arrived, they discovered a deceased woman inside the home.

A male was also found with a gunshot wound to the head. He was transported to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center but later died from his injury. Investigators believe his wound was self-inflicted.

The identities of the two individuals have not yet been released pending notification of family. Police emphasized that the investigation is ongoing but said no other individuals are believed to be involved and there is no threat to the public.
