Strike That Shutdown US195 Repaving Near Pullman Ends

PULLMAN, WA – The strike that shutdown the repaving of U.S. Highway 195 near Pullman has ended.

The International Union of Operating Engineers Local 302 went on strike August 12th. The strike halted several highway construction projects in Eastern Washington. The local project paused by the strike is a 3.5 million dollar job to repave 9 miles of US195 from State Route 27 South of Pullman to Babbitt Road North of town.

Crews worked on the project for a week before the strike. The local company Poe Asphalt was hired by WSDOT for the work. The project was initially scheduled to occur in August and September. WSDOT is prepared to run the project into next spring.

Asphalt plants in the region traditional shutdown for the winter October 1st. There’s no word yet when the US195 work and traffic delays will resume.
