Woman Accused of Assaulting Officer During Arrest at Clarkston Walmart

CLARKSTON, WA – A woman previously banned from Walmart for trespassing was arrested Monday afternoon following an altercation with police officers at the store on 5th Street in Clarkston.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed in Asotin County Superior Court, officers responded around 3:50 p.m. on September 15 to a report of trespassing at Walmart. Dispatch identified the woman as Oriana Sky Sam, 34, who had been barred from the store since 2018.

When officers arrived, Walmart loss prevention employees reported that Sam had been seen entering bathrooms with merchandise and leaving without it, though there was not enough evidence to charge her with theft. Officers confirmed Sam’s identity inside the store’s loss prevention office.

The affidavit states that Sam became agitated as officers attempted to remove a knife from a keychain in her possession. During the encounter, Sam allegedly kicked an officer in the thigh, resisted arrest, and yelled at officers as they attempted to place her in handcuffs.

Sam was transported to the Asotin County Jail, where deputies also reported continued resistance as she was escorted into a holding cell. Officers later confirmed that no stolen merchandise had been found in her bag, though store employees suspected some of her clothing may have been taken from Walmart.

Sam was booked on charges of assault in the third degree, resisting arrest, and criminal trespass in the first degree.
