Alleged Meth, Fentanyl Dealer Arrested After High-Speed Pursuit in Clarkston

CLARKSTON, WA – A 48-year-old man was taken into custody early Friday morning following a pursuit and drug investigation that resulted in multiple felony charges.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed in Asotin County Superior Court, officers with the Clarkston Police Department arrested Kerry Anderson shortly after midnight on September 19 on 7th Street. Anderson faces charges of attempting to elude law enforcement, obstruction, driving while license suspended in the third degree, and possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.

The affidavit states that officers first observed a white Chrysler sedan traveling on Maple Street late Thursday night. After an abrupt turn by the driver of the Chrysler, officers attempted to make contact.  According to police, the vehicle accelerated, turned off its lights, and fled at high speed through residential streets. The pursuit reached speeds of about 60 miles per hour before officers discontinued the chase for safety reasons.

Shortly afterward, officers located the vehicle parked near a residence in the 1100 block of 7th Street, where Anderson was reportedly seen exiting the driver’s seat with a bag. The affidavit alleges he attempted to flee into a gated area before being detained by officers. Another man at the scene, identified as James Swearingen, was also taken into custody on active warrants.

During the investigation, officers searched the Chrysler and a black bag connected to Anderson. Court records indicate officers recovered approximately 37 grams of methamphetamine, several containers of fentanyl powder, paraphernalia, digital scales, and more than $600 in cash. Investigators noted that the amount and packaging of the substances were consistent with drug sales rather than personal use.

Anderson was booked into the Asotin County Jail. Swearingen was also transported to the jail on his warrants.
