Balmer Announces Departure from LC State Baseball

LEWISTON, ID – After nearly two decades on the bench as a coach for the Warriors and a storied playing career, Allen Balmer has stepped down as the program’s associate head coach. He was named the head coach at Cumberland University (Tenn.), another historically successful baseball program in the NAIA, on Friday.

“Coach Balmer has made a huge impact at LC State and on the LC Valley,” head coach Jeremiah Robbins said. “His tireless work ethic and his commitment to the program is unmatched. We are excited for Coach Balmer and his family for this opportunity. I have no doubt we will see him with his team in Lewiston very soon. Coach Balmer is one of my closest friends and I will miss him very much. It’s been an honor to work with him. All the best from all of us at LC State Baseball.”

Balmer has been part of the Warrior program for decades and coached the team for 17 seasons. A second-generation Warrior, his father Gary Balmer was a standout at LC State in the 1980s. Allen joined the team in 2002 and had a stellar four-year career that featured two national championships. He was named the Avista NAIA World Series MVP in 2006.

Balmer joined the coaching staff in 2008 and was instrumental in both infielder and hitter instruction. He led recruiting efforts for the Warriors since 2013 and during those years 17 players have been drafted in the MLB Draft. Two went on to play in the MLB in Seth Brown and Connor Brogdon. He assisted current head coach, Robbins, in three consecutive national titles in 2015, 2016 and 2017.
