ASOTIN COUNTY, WA – The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) has announced the opening of two newly developed campsites on the Asotin Creek Wildlife Area, marking the first designated camping options available within the area.
The sites, located along Lick Creek Road at Sourdough Gulch and Cabin Gulch, were funded through grants from the Washington Recreation Conservation Office. Both sites are free to use on a first-come, first-served basis. Visitors must display either a WDFW Vehicle Access Pass or a Discover Pass.
Although classified as dispersed camping, the sites now feature gravel pads to accommodate tents or campers. Campers may stay for up to 21 days within a 30-day period.
WDFW says additional amenities are in progress. Campfire rings are expected to be installed this fall, with restroom facilities scheduled for completion next spring. The same funding will also provide new restrooms at three other locations in the wildlife area: the shooting range, near the Smoothing Iron Buildings, and at the North Fork Asotin Creek trailhead.
