CLARKSTON, WA — A Clarkston woman was arrested after an alleged assault inside the Asotin County Jail, leading to a finding of probable cause for third-degree assault.
According to documents from the Asotin County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred on the afternoon of September 19, when jail staff reported that an inmate had attacked a deputy in the booking area. The inmate, identified as 43-year-old Hope Laraine Seitz-Irvin, was being booked into the jail on a warrant at the time.
Reports state that Seitz-Irvin began wandering in the booking area and failed to follow commands to return to a holding cell. She allegedly grabbed a plastic gallon jug of water from a booking desk and swung it at a deputy, striking him on the arm. She then attempted additional swings toward his head and upper body while also scratching his arm during the struggle.
Multiple deputies intervened, and Seitz-Irvin was ultimately restrained and placed in a holding cell. Body-worn camera footage and photographs documented the incident, including scratches on the deputy’s arm and the broken water jug.
On September 20, Seitz-Irvin was booked into jail on a charge of assault in the third degree. A judge reviewed the reports and found probable cause for the charge, ordering that she remain in custody pending arraignment in Asotin County Superior Court.
