BOISE COUNTY, ID – Idaho State Police are investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash that occurred Saturday evening on State Highway 55 near mile marker 79, north of Banks.
At approximately 6:02 p.m., a 2012 Ford F350, driven by a 45-year-old man from Caldwell, was traveling northbound when it left the roadway on the right shoulder. The driver overcorrected, causing the vehicle to lose control, cross the lanes, and travel down an embankment into the Payette River.
The driver and a 25-year-old male passenger were able to exit the vehicle. The driver died at the scene, while the passenger was transported to a local hospital by air ambulance.
Idaho State Police were assisted by the Boise County Sheriff’s Office, Garden Valley EMS and Fire, Horseshoe Bend Fire, Idaho Mountain Search and Rescue, Life Flight Network, and the Idaho Department of Transportation. All lanes were blocked for approximately 12 hours.
The crash remains under investigation by Idaho State Police.
