SPOKANE, WA – The No. 25 LC State Women’s Golf team opened play as the only NAIA team at the Kalispel Invitational on Monday at the Kalispel Country Club in Spokane. The Warrior women played 36 holes and senior Dallis Shockey leads the way.
LC State is the top non-NCAA Division I team at the tournament and sits in 13th place. The Warriors shot 339 in the first round before a much-improved second round score of 321.
“New experiences for the women today in a field full of DI teams,” coach Zach Anderson said. “It was great for our women to experience that type of caliber of golf. Some nerves definitely got to us, but it was nice to see the improvement the second round. Very impressive to see how Dallis adapted throughout the day to lead us in the second round. Another opportunity tomorrow.”
Shockey, the lone senior on the team, is the top Warrior after the first 36 holes in a tie for 60th place. She is the top non-DI golfer in the field after rounds of 83-76 for a 159. Her 4-over-par second round secured a 10-spot jump after the first 18 holes.
Junior Isabella Barquet is tied for 73rd as the second non-DI golfer in the tournament after rounds of 84-80. Jane Barry is three strokes behind Barquet in 76th with a two-round total of 167 on rounds of 84-83.
Giulia Belfonatli carded rounds of 88-82 and is tied for 79th, while freshman Taylor Mire sits in 82nd place with a two-round total of 178.
