Suspect in WSU Shooting Arrested in Seattle

PULLMAN, WA – The Seattle Police Department has confirmed to Pullman Police Detectives that Jakori Buchanan was arrested Tuesday and booked into the King County Jail. Buchanan, a University of Washington student, will be transported to Whitman County for his initial court appearance.

Buchanan, 20, was wanted in connection with a Sunday morning shooting at the Aspen Heights apartment complex in Pullman. Police say he allegedly shot 19-year-old Sone Falealo, a freshman offensive lineman on the Washington State University football team, around 1:45 a.m.

Falealo was taken to a hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.

An arrest warrant for first-degree assault had been issued for Buchanan, who was considered armed and dangerous. Investigators reported that the vehicle he used to flee the scene was a rental car later returned at SeaTac.

Buchanan is from the Puget Sound area.
