PULLMAN, WA – The Whitman Recovery Community Center has installed a naloxone dispenser outside its location at 226 E. Main Street in Pullman, providing free access to the life-saving medication that rapidly reverses opioid overdoses.
Naloxone, also known by the brand name Narcan, works by blocking the effects of opioids on the brain and can restore normal breathing within minutes. The medication is accessible to all free of charge at WRCC.
The center is also working to place additional naloxone distribution boxes at key community spots throughout Whitman County. These boxes will be rotated periodically around the county with medication available to anyone at no cost.
WRCC serves as a safe space for those in recovery from substance use, alcoholism, and mental health challenges, offering peer coaching, support groups, and programs like Recovery Dharma and Recovery Yoga.
