Moscow Police Address Misinformation in Campus Altercation Investigation

MOSCOW, ID – The Moscow Police Department is investigating a physical altercation that occurred on the University of Idaho campus Wednesday night.

According to MPD, officers were dispatched at approximately 8:53 p.m. on September 24 to the area of Idaho Avenue and Deakin Avenue after receiving a report of a battery. Upon arrival, officers found one adult male with significant injuries. No arrests have been made, and no charges have been filed as the investigation continues.

Police say several rumors circulating in the community are false. Contrary to claims, the incident did not involve multiple attackers but was an altercation between two adult males. Officials also emphasized that reports the injured individual was “curb stomped” are inaccurate, stating that recovered evidence shows this did not occur.

Authorities further noted concerns over individuals sending threatening messages to those connected with the non-injured party and attempting to conduct their own investigations. MPD cautioned that harassment of witnesses or those involved could constitute a criminal offense.

The department urged the public to refrain from spreading misinformation and to rely only on official updates. “The Moscow Police Department is the only source of vetted, accurate information regarding this investigation,” the release stated.

Further details will be provided when available and as permitted by law.
