Southern Idaho Suspect Shot by Police After Firing at Officers During Pursuit

CALDWELL, ID – A vehicle pursuit in Caldwell on Thursday evening ended in an officer-involved shooting after the suspect fired at officers, authorities say.

According to the Caldwell Police Department, the incident began around 7:17 p.m. near Linden and Indiana when an officer attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation. The solo driver failed to yield, prompting a pursuit.

During the chase, the suspect allegedly fired multiple shots at pursuing officers. The pursuit ended at Birchwood and Pleasant Ridge when the suspect’s vehicle was involved in a traffic collision. An officer-involved shooting occurred at the scene, and the suspect sustained a gunshot wound. He was transported by ambulance to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

No officers were injured in the incident.

The Canyon County Critical Incident Task Force has been activated, with the Idaho State Police leading the investigation. Further updates will be released by ISP.
