UI Extension Offers Free Virtual Farm Succession Planning Workshop

MOSCOW, ID – University of Idaho Extension is hosting a free, two-part virtual workshop on farm succession planning on Wednesday, October 1, and Friday, October 3, from 12:00 – 1:30 pm PT for current landowners and incoming producers.

Colette DePhelps, Northern District area Extension educator specializing in community food systems, will lead the sessions covering how to transfer a farm or ranch within or outside the family.

The first session focuses on clarifying values, vision, and goals, while the second covers financial assessment and identifying professional service providers.

The workshop will address the steps involved in farm or ranch transfers, including assessing current financial positions, future needs, and resources for developing a succession plan. Both sessions will be recorded and sent to all registrants.
DePhelps is certified as an American Farmland Trust Land Access trainer and International Farm Transition Network farm succession coordinator.

The workshop is supported by UI Extension’s Cultivating Success and Idaho Women in Ag programs.
