CLARKSTON, WA — The Asotin County Rural Library District is inviting residents to attend community forums this month to learn more about a levy lid lift measure that will appear on the November 4, 2025 ballot.
The forums are scheduled for Thursday, October 9, from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m., and Saturday, October 11, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Both events will be held at the Asotin County Library, located at 417 Sycamore Street in Clarkston.
Library Director Jennifer Ashby will lead the discussions, offering an overview of the proposal, explaining how it could affect library funding, and answering questions from community members.
If approved, the levy lid lift would restore the Library’s funding rate to 50 cents per $1,000 of assessed property value. This would mark the first time in 16 years that voters have been asked to consider such a measure. The additional revenue would be directed toward maintaining library services, supporting community programs, and sustaining operating hours.
The events are free and open to the public. More information, including the Board Resolution and a list of frequently asked questions, is available on the Library’s website at www.asotincountylibrary.org/news .
