Deputy Under Investigation in Eastern Washington Domestic Violence Case

SOAP LAKE, WA — The Grant County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that an off-duty deputy is under investigation following a reported domestic violence incident in Soap Lake.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the incident is being investigated by the Soap Lake Police Department, as it occurred within their jurisdiction. The Sheriff’s Office stated that because the case involves one of their own employees, they are not directly participating in the police investigation.

The deputy has been placed on administrative leave while the matter is reviewed. Once Soap Lake Police complete their investigation, Clear Risk Solutions — Grant County’s insurance risk pool — will conduct an internal review to determine if department policies were violated.

In a statement, the Sheriff’s Office emphasized that domestic violence will not be tolerated and reaffirmed its commitment to accountability and public trust. Officials also underscored the importance of protecting and believing victims, especially in cases where law enforcement personnel are involved.

Further updates will be released once the internal investigation concludes, the agency said.
