WASHINGTON, D.C. – Foster Poultry Farms, LLC, based in Livingston, California, has issued a nationwide recall for approximately 3,843,040 pounds of chicken corn dog products that may contain pieces of wood embedded in the batter, according to an announcement from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).
The recall affects products produced between July 30, 2024, and August 4, 2025, bearing the establishment number “P-6137B” inside the USDA inspection mark or printed on the packaging. The recalled items were distributed to retail and institutional outlets nationwide, including through the Department of Defense and USDA Commodity Foods donations. While some were distributed to schools, FSIS clarified that this occurred through commercial sales rather than USDA’s National School Lunch Program.
The issue was discovered following a consumer injury complaint, with five injuries reported among multiple consumer submissions to the company. FSIS urges anyone who may have sustained an injury after consuming these products to seek medical attention.
Officials warn that affected corn dog products may still be stored in refrigerators or freezers at homes and institutions. Consumers are urged not to consume the products and instead discard or return them to their point of purchase.
FSIS stated it will conduct recall effectiveness checks to ensure the recalled items are removed from commerce.
