City of Boise Recruiting For New Arts & History Director

BOISE, ID – The City of Boise is actively recruiting for an experienced and visionary director to lead the Department of Arts & History.

The director serves in an executive-level position, leading a team of 18 staff members and will oversee all arts, culture and history programs, provide strategic leadership, and ensure equitable access to cultural resources for all residents. The director also plays a key role in shaping citywide policy and partnerships that enhance Boise’s cultural and historical landscape. The ideal candidate will be committed to equity, civic engagement and the preservation and celebration of Boise’s diverse cultural history.

The City of Boise Arts & History Department promotes a sense of belonging through accessible and place-based art and history. The department supports our community through education and public programs, grants, calls and other publicly-funded opportunities, by preserving, promoting and providing access to the city’s archives, history and cultural sites, and by working with the artist community to integrate a diverse collection of works of art into public spaces.

The City of Boise launched the nationwide search on October 1. This search comes after the announcement that Jennifer Stevens resigned from the role in September. Carrie Hall, HR Business Strategy and Performance Senior Manager at the City of Boise, will serve on an interim basis until a new director is selected.
