MOSCOW, ID – At approximately 3:43 PM on October 4, 2025, the Moscow Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire in the 300 block of Rodeo Drive. The first engine arrived on scene in under three minutes.
Upon arrival, Moscow Fire Department crews encountered smoke and visible flames coming from a rear window of one unit in a duplex. The fire appeared to be located in a bedroom, prompting the first-arriving crew to initiate an aggressive interior attack.
Firefighters gained entry through the front door, quickly located the fire in a rear bedroom, and successfully extinguished it. Their swift action limited the damage to the single bedroom, with the remainder of the residence sustaining only minor to moderate smoke damage.
The adjoining duplex unit was not affected, and no fire or smoke damage was reported in that portion of the structure.
At the time of the incident, two adults were home in the affected unit, and one adult was home in the neighboring unit. All occupants were able to evacuate safely, and no injuries were reported.
The American Red Cross is providing assistance to the residents of the damaged unit.
Notably, one of the adult residents played a key role in limiting the fire’s spread by closing the bedroom door, which helped contain the flames and prevent further damage to the home.
The preliminary investigation suggests the fire may have originated from an electrical cord in the bedroom. The cause remains under investigation pending further analysis.
The Moscow Fire Department was assisted on scene by the Moscow Police Department.
