HAYDEN, ID – The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a fisherman discovered a deceased individual in Hayden Lake on Sunday morning.

According to a media release from Sheriff Robert B. Norris, deputies were dispatched to Henry Point on Hayden Lake, east of the City of Hayden, around 11 a.m. on October 5 following reports of a body in the water.

Deputies deployed a drone to locate the individual before using a marine vessel to confirm the death and recover the body. The sheriff’s office said the preliminary investigation revealed no signs of foul play, though the cause of death remains under investigation.

The identity of the individual has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.

The incident is being handled under case number 25-49088.
