‘Practical Magic’ sequel film wraps production, to be released Sept. 18, 2026

“Practical Magic 2,” a follow-up to the 1998 fantasy-comedy starring Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman, has wrapped production. The film is set to debut on Sept. 18, 2026, with Bullock and Kidman also serving as producers on the sequel film, alongside the original film’s producer Denise Di Novi.

Kidman wrote on Instagram: “That’s a wrap on #PracticalMagic2! Thank you to the cast & crew for all your magic ✨” The post contained a short video of Kidman and Bullock walking outside.

A brief teaser clip released earlier this year to announce the film focused on the voices of the the Owens sisters (Bullock and Kidman), who say: “Tooth of wolf and morning dew, Something old and something new. Let the spell begin to mix. September 18, 2026.” The caption to the social media post read: “The spell is cast. The date is set. Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman return. Only In Theaters September 18, 2026. Rewatch the original #PracticalMagic now streaming on MAX.”

Bullock and Kidman will reprise their roles as sisters Sally and Gillian Owens, who descend from a long line of witches. Based on the novel by Alice Hoffman, the original 1998 film follows the sisters, Sally and Gillian, as they to figure out how to stop the men they love from dying. (per Variety). It’s unclear where the second film will pick up, though the story is reportedly based on a later installment in Hoffman’s “Practical Magic” book series.

The cast of Practical Magic 2 will also include Stockard Channing, Dianne Wiest, Joey King, Lee Pace, Maisie Williams, Xolo Mariduena and Solly McLeod.
