Asotin County Voters to Decide on Sales Tax Measure for 911 Communications Upgrades

ASOTIN COUNTY, WA — Voters in Asotin County will see a sales tax measure on the November 4, 2025, ballot aimed at supporting emergency communications maintenance and upgrades.

The proposed 1/10th of 1% sales tax increase would fund essential equipment that connects the public to emergency responders through the 911 system. County officials say the revenue would be dedicated solely to maintaining and updating the infrastructure that allows dispatchers to relay critical information between callers, law enforcement, firefighters, and medical personnel.

According to Asotin County Emergency Management, the county’s emergency communications network depends on a system of radios, telephones, and computer equipment to provide reliable service between the public, 911 dispatch, and first responders. The agency says the measure is intended to help the county keep up with the rising costs of updating and maintaining that system.

Residents with questions can contact Emergency Management Director Nick Bacon at (509) 243-2088 during business hours or by email at nbacon@asotincountywa.gov.
