MOSCOW, ID – The Moscow School District’s computer network had to be shut down after it was hacked.
Superintendent Shawn Tiegs informed district families, students, and staff of the issue in an email that was sent out earlier this week. Tiegs says the U.S. Department of Homeland Security informed Moscow Schools of the hack last Friday.
District officials disconnected all external connections to the computer network after school on Friday. Moscow Schools’ IT staff and cyber security specialists are investigating the hack and working to get the network back online.
Superintendent Tiegs notes that the hack has impacted classroom instruction.
