WEIPPE, ID – A Weippe man has been arrested following an investigation into a reported sexual offense involving a minor.

According to the Clearwater County Sheriff’s Office, deputies received a report on October 7 at about 6 p.m. from the father of an underage female who reported a possible sexual offense that had occurred two days earlier near Weippe.

Deputies took an initial statement, collected evidence, and conducted additional interviews on October 8. Later that day, at about 4 p.m., deputies arrested 27-year-old Zachary Smith of Weippe.

Smith has been charged with rape of a female under 16 years old and possession of methamphetamine.

The Clearwater County Sheriff’s Office said the investigation remains ongoing and that there may be additional victims.
