WAPATO, WA — A pedestrian was killed early Sunday morning in a hit-and-run collision on State Route 97, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The crash occurred around 8:13 a.m. on October 12, 2025, near milepost 70, about half a mile north of the Wapato city limits. Investigators said a southbound vehicle struck a pedestrian who was also walking southbound along the highway, then fled the scene.

The victim, identified as 31-year-old Jeffrey A. Bushman of Wapato, was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been notified by authorities.

The driver and vehicle involved remain unidentified, and the cause of the collision is still under investigation.
