CALDWELL, ID – No. 19 LC State Men’s Golf is tied for second after the first two rounds of the College of Idaho Classic at Timberstone Golf Club in Caldwell. Luke West and Andrea Artusini are tied for 10th individually to lead the Warriors.
LC State is tied with Oregon Tech at 15-over after 36 holes. No. 11 British Columbia holds a commanding lead over the field.
“Frustrating end to the day,” coach Zach Anderson said. “A bad start and an even worse finish leave a sour taste to a day where the group showed a lot of battling. Bright spots for sure, but overall a big step back from what we have done before this event. New day tomorrow to showcase that we are better than today.”
West carded three birdies in each round of his 72-74 day to sit 2-over through two rounds. Artusini shot back-to-back rounds of 73 with five birdies in each round.
Sophomore Lucas Ortega is one stroke back in 12th place in the field of 60 golfers. He shot five birdies in his first 18 holes before three birdies and an eagle to finish the day with round of 74-73 for a 3-over total.
Aaron Brown is tied for 27th with a score of 8-over after an eagle and three birdies in his first round. Sondre Andresen is tied for 38th at 14-over.
Kye Krall is competing as an individual and is tied for 22nd after 18 holes. The senior had two birdies in each round to total 6-over.
