RIGGINS, ID — Starting Monday, highway crews will resume rock slope safety work along U.S. Highway 95 near Riggins.
South of town, at milepost 189 near the Sheep Creek Rest Area, crews will install reflective prisms to monitor slope movement and remove loose rocks from the steep hillside above the roadway. Drivers should expect intermittent delays of up to 20 minutes between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. for about a week. Traffic will be held in both directions while rocks are cleared from the slope, with flaggers allowing one lane through at intervals.
North of Riggins, at milepost 196.5 near “Bull’s Eye Corner,” crews will close the shoulder to replace damaged signs as part of ongoing safety improvements that began last fall.
Officials remind motorists that rocks may be present on the roadway and to use caution when traveling through this section of the river corridor.
