Idaho Technology Council Honors U of I President Scott Green with Visionary Leadership Award

BOISE, ID — University of Idaho President Scott Green was honored with the Mt. Borah Visionary Leader Award by the Idaho Technology Council (ITC) during the Hall of Fame Idaho Tech and Idavation Awards on Oct. 16.

The ITC Board of Trustees selected Green in recognition of his leadership in advancing the university’s research profile, including its recent Carnegie R1 designation and record-breaking research expenditures. The council also cited U of I’s growing influence in cybersecurity, agriculture, rangeland health and biomedical sciences.

“I’m honored and humbled to accept this award, which I view as a tribute to the innovation driven by our amazing faculty, staff and students at the University of Idaho,” Green said. “We’ve set ambitious goals as an institution and our team continues to rise to the occasion and surpass one after another.”

Named after Idaho’s tallest peak, the Mt. Borah Visionary Leader Award recognizes leaders who have expanded the horizons of Idaho’s technology and entrepreneurial community.

The event also spotlighted other University of Idaho affiliates. Distinguished Professor Carolyn Bohach earned the inaugural Star Garnet Women Leading Tech Award for her work heading the Idaho INBRE Program, a National Institutes of Health–funded biomedical research initiative that provides research opportunities to students statewide.

Two alumni were recognized as well. Brandi Milliron (’97) received the Sawtooth STEM Educator Award for excellence in STEM education at West Minico Middle School, and Nick Stoppello (’13), co-founder of Flashpoint Building Systems, was a finalist for the Peregrine Innovative Technology Award.

The Idaho Technology Council is a statewide membership organization dedicated to fostering growth and awareness of Idaho’s technology ecosystem.
