LEWISTON, ID – A 30-year-old Lewiston man has been charged in Nez Perce County with two felony counts involving a teenage girl, according to court documents filed Monday.
The documents say Corey D. Smith faces charges of rape and sexual battery of a minor child 16 or 17 years of age. The charges stem from multiple alleged incidents that investigators say occurred between late 2024 and October 2025 at a residence in Lewiston.
According to the affidavit, the Lewiston Police Department began investigating after receiving a report from the teen and her mother on Sunday. Detectives conducted interviews with the victim, her family, and witnesses, and collected physical and digital evidence, including messages between the suspect and the teen. LPD’s report says Smith allegedly admitted to one sexual assault but denied other alleged instances.
Investigators noted that Smith was on felony probation for drug possession at the time of the alleged offenses.
Smith was taken into custody on Monday and booked into the Nez Perce County Adult Detention Facility. He is charged as a persistent violator, which could enhance sentencing if convicted.
Smith appeared in court on Tuesday afternoon. Bond was set at $100,000.
