Absentee Ballot and Voter Registration Deadline Approaches in Idaho

BOISE, ID — Idaho voters have until Friday, October 24 at 5 p.m. (local time) to pre-register to vote or request an absentee ballot at VoteIdaho.gov ahead of the November 4 local elections.

After the deadline, eligible voters will still be able to register in person at early voting locations or on Election Day by presenting an accepted form of photo ID and proof of residence. Early voting is already underway in many counties.

Secretary of State Phil McGrane encouraged Idahoans to prepare ahead of time.

“As the election approaches, I encourage every Idahoan to make a plan and be ready to vote in the local elections on Tuesday, November 4th,” McGrane said. “Pre-registering at VoteIdaho.gov is quick and straightforward, and it’s the best way to ensure you’re prepared for Election Day.”

Voters can use VoteIdaho.gov to check or update their registration, view sample ballots, request absentee ballots, and find early voting information for their county. Residents not yet registered can register and vote in person during early voting or on Election Day with an accepted ID—most commonly, a current Idaho driver’s license, which meets both ID and proof-of-residence requirements.

The Secretary of State’s Office noted that not all Idaho voters will have items on their local ballot this November. Local taxing districts follow different schedules and boundaries, so some neighborhoods may have elections while others do not. Voters are encouraged to review their sample ballots before heading to the polls.

More information on registration, absentee voting, and upcoming local elections can be found at VoteIdaho.gov.
