STEPTOE, WA – Steptoe Butte State Park North of Colfax is now set to re-open at the end of the year.
The popular butte has been closed since February’s flood. The Washington State Parks Department kept the site closed prior to scheduled repaving work which began in the spring. Crews have been repaving the road to the summit.
Steptoe Butte was initially set to reopen this month. Parks officials in Olympia say the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 302’s late summer strike delayed the work. Steptoe Butte is now scheduled to reopen on Monday December 29th.
