Pasco Shooting Suspect Arrested in Pullman Following Multi-Agency Operation

PULLMAN, WA — A suspect wanted in connection with a Pasco shooting was taken into custody Tuesday night following a coordinated law enforcement effort in Pullman.

According to the Pullman Police Department, at approximately 8 p.m. on October 28, officers were contacted by the Pasco Police Department regarding Osman Morales-Salto, who was believed to be in the Aspen Heights area. Morales-Salto is wanted for six counts of first-degree assault related to a shooting that occurred early Sunday morning in Pasco. Authorities confirmed an active $5 million warrant for his arrest.

The Whitman County Regional SWAT Team, along with members of the Pasco Street Crimes Unit and the Latah County Regional SWAT Team, responded to the scene. After several hours of surveillance, Morales-Salto was apprehended without incident.

Officials said multiple agencies were involved in the operation, including the Pullman Police Department, Pasco Police Department, Washington State University Police Department, Washington State Patrol, Latah County Sheriff’s Office, Moscow Police Department, Whitman County Emergency Management, and Pullman Fire Department. The department noted that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement was not involved in the operation.

Residents in the Aspen Heights complex were asked to avoid the area and use alternate routes around North Grand Avenue and Pullman-Albion Road as law enforcement secured the scene and collected evidence.

Pullman Police confirmed that while there is no ongoing threat to public safety, buildings within the 100 address range at Aspen Heights were evacuated during the investigation. Displaced WSU students were directed to the Compton Union Building (CUB) Senior Ballroom, and non-student residents were provided shelter at the Pullman Recreation Senior Center at 190 SE Crestview, Building B.
