WDFW Police Seek Information After Moose Killed and Left to Waste in Eastern Washington

FERRY COUNTY, WA – The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) Police are seeking the public’s help in identifying the person or persons responsible for the unlawful killing and wasting of a bull moose near Sherman Pass earlier this month.

According to WDFW Police, the large bull moose was killed on or around October 1 between the towns of Kettle Falls and Republic in Ferry County. Investigators say the head and backstraps were removed, while more than 500 pounds of meat were left behind to rot — a significant loss of a public resource.

“This was a blatant wildlife violation,” WDFW Police stated in their release. “We’re asking anyone who may have seen suspicious activity or has information about the incident to come forward.”

Members of the public with information are encouraged to contact WDFW Police by calling 360-902-2936 (option 1), submitting a tip online through the department’s violations webpage, or texting WDFWTIP to 847411.

Those who provide information leading to an arrest may be eligible for a cash reward or bonus points for special permit hunting opportunities.
