NAMPA, ID – A teenage boy was hospitalized in serious condition after being shot by police during a violent incident involving his mother.
According to the Nampa Police Department, officers were called at 7:30 p.m. on October 31 to a disturbance in a park near 21st Avenue South and 2nd Street South, where a male juvenile was reportedly attacking his mother. When officers arrived, the mother was outside with visible injuries, and the teen had retreated into the home.
Officers say the teen aggressively confronted them with a knife at the front door. Two officers fired their weapons, striking him in the abdomen and both arms. He was disarmed and received immediate first aid before being transported by ambulance to a local hospital.
The mother was also taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No officers were injured in the incident.
The Canyon County Critical Incident Task Force was activated, and the Canyon County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation. Officials said the case is still under preliminary review, and more information will be released as it becomes available.
