BOISE, ID – A series of free public workshops on government transparency will take place this winter, organized by Idahoans for Openness in Government (IDOG) in partnership with the Idaho Secretary of State’s Office and the State Controller’s Office.
The first session, scheduled for November 19 from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Mountain Time in the Lincoln Auditorium at the Idaho State Capitol, will cover campaign finance and lobbying laws. Secretary of State Phil McGrane will lead the session with participation from State Controller Brandon Woolf, IDOG President Betsy Russell, and Governor Brad Little’s Chief Counsel Andy Snook. Idaho Public Television will stream the event live at idahoptv.org/insession.
Subsequent sessions, planned for December and January, will address Transparent Idaho/Townhall Idaho, the Idaho Public Records Act, and the Idaho Open Meeting Law. All four workshops will be available to attend in person or online, with recordings posted later at openidaho.org.
IDOG, a nonprofit coalition affiliated with the National Freedom of Information Coalition, promotes open government and public access to records and meetings. The sessions are endorsed by the Association of Idaho Cities, Idaho Association of Counties, Attorneys for Civic Education, and the Idaho Press Club. Continuing legal education credit is pending approval from the Idaho State Bar.
