KELLOGG, ID – Ski resorts across Idaho are rolling out new terrain, upgrades, and programs as the 2025-26 winter season approaches, giving visitors more to explore and experience.
Sun Valley Resort, celebrating its 90th season, is adding 90 acres of gladed terrain featuring four advanced runs. The expansion is part of the Bald Mountain Forest Stewardship Project, developed with the U.S. Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, and National Forest Foundation. The project reduces fire risk, improves forest health, and provides heating firewood for local indigenous communities. Sun Valley is also introducing RFID technology at base areas, new ski and ride clinics, and Sunny’s Adventure Park on Dollar Mountain. The resort is set to open November 27.
Tamarack Resort is adding 50-60 acres of new inbounds terrain south of Bliss after this summer’s Rock Fire affected nearby forestland. Enhancements include expanded beginner runs, improved snowmaking, new loading ramps, and expanded parking. Tamarack will open November 28 and is offering a full slate of holiday events, Nordic programming, and après-ski entertainment.
Bogus Basin near Boise is opening more gladed terrain, piloting snow-storage technology to preserve 2.6 million gallons of water from last winter, and has completed major lodge renovations, including ADA-accessible upgrades. The resort plans to begin operations November 21.
Other North and South Idaho resorts are also making improvements. Silver Mountain Resort added more glades, upgraded signage, and extended tubing sessions, opening November 28. Magic Mountain expanded its beginner area and tubing hill, adding a second magic carpet, targeting a December 13 opening. Kelly Canyon Resort opened new glades and terrain park features, with a Thanksgiving Day opening. Soldier Mountain will continue guided side-country access and add backcountry programming, with dates to be announced.
Lookout Pass Ski & Recreation Area, Brundage Mountain, Lost Trail, Pebble Creek, Pomerelle, Rotarun, Schweitzer, and Snowhaven are also implementing upgrades including new lifts, snowmaking equipment, rental fleet updates, and expanded programming for skiers and snowboarders.
Grand Targhee Resort, Bald Mountain Ski Area, Cottonwood Butte, and Little Ski Hill are maintaining existing facilities and infrastructure, with select opening dates and events planned.
