Pullman Good Food Co-op Announces Plan For Downtown Grocery Store

PULLMAN, WA – The Pullman Good Food Co-op has announced their latest plan for opening a grocery store.

Co-op officials announced on Wednesday that they have signed a letter of intent to open a store in downtown Pullman.  The deal is with Muse on Main.  The Muse is a mixed used building which features several upper stories of apartments and retail space on the ground floor.  The Co-op hopes to use 4,000 square feet for its community owned grocery store and have room for future expansion.  The plan also calls for PGFC members to use the Muse parking garage for free.  The proposal calls for a full service grocery store with produce, meats, dairy, dry goods and prepared foods.  Online ordering with in-store pickup will be available for members.

The Co-op will launch a capital campaign to transform the space into a grocery store including installing a commercial kitchen.  That fundraising campaign will be launched during the PGFC’s annual meeting on December 5th.  An official opening date for the Co-op grocery store will be announced once enough money is raised and the plans are finalized.

The Pullman Good Food Co-op was established in 2018.  The group’s previous attempt for a grocery store failed last year.  The last proposal was an effort to buy the old Fireside Grille restaurant building Bishop Boulevard.  The Co-op was unable to raise the half a million dollars that was needed to buy the property.  PGFC Board Member and Chair of the Location Committee Garth Mader says they decided to start with a smaller grocery store after listening to their members.
