Public Tips Help Idaho Fish and Game Charge Four in Coeur d’Alene Wildlife Crime Case

COEUR D’ALENE, ID — The Idaho Department of Fish and Game (IDFG) announced that four individuals have been charged with multiple wildlife-related violations following a public appeal for assistance in October.

On October 14, the agency requested help identifying people seen on a motion-activated camera who were suspected of involvement in wildlife crimes near Coeur d’Alene. After receiving numerous tips, conservation officers launched an investigation that led to charges against two Idaho residents and two nonresidents.

According to IDFG, the individuals face multiple charges, including taking a black bear during unlawful hours, possession of unlawfully taken game, maintaining and hunting over an illegal bear bait site, and hunting big game such as deer and elk without valid licenses or tags. Additional charges involve hunting with an unlawful weapon and baiting upland game birds, including wild turkeys.

The case remains active, and officials said no further details will be released until it is concluded.

Fish and Game expressed appreciation for the public’s role in helping identify the suspects, noting that citizen reports are critical to protecting Idaho’s wildlife resources.

Anyone with information about potential wildlife crimes can contact the Citizens Against Poaching hotline at 1-800-632-5999 or submit a report online. Tips may remain confidential, and cash rewards are available for information leading to charges in wildlife cases.
