Coeur d’Alene man sentenced to 20 years for alleged rape and video voyeurism

COEUR D’ALENE, ID – A Coeur d’Alene man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison following his conviction for alleged rape and video voyeurism involving his former partner.

Frank Cunningham, 41, was convicted after an investigation that began in the fall of 2024. According to court records, Cunningham’s significant other reportedly discovered several videos on his Google Drive account that appeared to show him raping her while she was asleep or otherwise unaware of the assaults.

Investigators alleged that Cunningham recorded himself committing the acts multiple times between March 2023 and April 2024. The victim also told authorities she had found medications in their home that she believed may have been used to incapacitate her.

Cunningham was sentenced on November 7, 2025, by District Judge Regina McCrea to a unified 30-year prison term, with parole eligibility after 20 years. The court also imposed a 25-year no contact order with the victim.

At sentencing, Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Molly Nivison recommended a life sentence with parole eligibility after 20 years. Prosecuting Attorney Stanley T. Mortensen later commended Nivison, Criminal Chief Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Laura McClinton, and the Coeur d’Alene Police Department for their work on the case, and expressed appreciation for the victim’s courage in coming forward.

Court documents show Cunningham has a prior criminal record, including convictions for assault, battery, reckless driving, and DUI. In 2019, he was convicted of video voyeurism in Nez Perce County for similar alleged conduct involving a different victim.
