Lewiston Man Arrested on Alleged Felony Rape Charge

LEWISTON, ID – According to court documents, a 22-year-old Lewiston man has been arrested and charged with felony rape following an investigation by the Lewiston Police Department and the Nez Perce County Prosecutor’s Office.

Elijah C. Vinci was taken into custody on November 7, 2025, and booked into the Nez Perce County Jail on a felony rape charge. The case stems from an alleged sexual assault that occurred in August at Vinci’s residence in Lewiston.

The investigation began on August 11, when the victim contacted the Lewiston Police Department to report that Vinci had allegedly assaulted her two days earlier. The victim, whose name is being withheld to protect her privacy, later underwent a sexual assault examination at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center.

According to court filings, both Vinci and the victim went to the Lewiston Police Department on November 7 to speak with detectives. During the interview, Vinci allegedly admitted to being physically aggressive during a prior encounter with the same individual and told investigators he has struggled with anger issues. Detectives noted that Vinci expressed remorse and stated he has been trying to address his behavior.

After reviewing statements, video footage, and medical findings, detectives determined there was probable cause for Vinci’s arrest. The Nez Perce County Prosecutor’s Office filed an affidavit of probable cause on November 10, referencing investigative reports, recorded interviews, and evidence gathered by the Lewiston Police Department.

Vinci remains in custody at the Nez Perce County Jail pending further court proceedings.
