SPOKANE VALLEY, WA – Spokane Valley Deputies arrested a 44-year-old man early Tuesday morning after an hours-long standoff in which the suspect barricaded himself inside a home and was later found hiding in the attic.
According to the Spokane Valley Police Department, deputies received information around 9 p.m. on November 10 that the suspect, identified as Gregory J. Talbot, was at a residence in the 1800 block of North Corbin Lane. Talbot was wanted on several felony and misdemeanor charges connected to a domestic violence incident reported earlier that day around 2:25 a.m.
During the initial incident, deputies developed probable cause to charge Talbot with first-degree robbery and burglary—both domestic violence-related—along with third-degree malicious mischief, interfering with the reporting of domestic violence, third-degree theft, and fourth-degree assault. Deputies were unable to locate him at that time.
When law enforcement surrounded the Corbin Lane home Monday night, they made multiple announcements instructing Talbot to surrender peacefully but received no response. Deputies reported hearing movement inside the residence and deployed a drone to try to establish contact, but were unsuccessful.
Around 11:15 p.m., deputies obtained a search warrant and requested assistance from the Warrant Service Group, a specialized unit composed of SWAT team members. After receiving the warrant just before midnight, the team entered the residence and detained another man who was later released without charges.
Deputies continued searching and, around 2:20 a.m., located Talbot hiding in the attic. He was taken into custody without further incident.
Talbot was booked into the Spokane County Jail on the previously listed felony and misdemeanor domestic violence charges.
