Warrior Women’s Basketball Holds Steady at No. 7

KANSAS CITY, MO – LC State Women’s Basketball maintained its No. 7 ranking in the latest NAIA Top 25 poll released on Wednesday. The Warriors are off to a 4-0 start on the season ahead of the first road trip.

The Warrior women defeated Dickinson State (N.D.) twice before wins over Montana Western and Park-Gilbert (Ariz.) last weekend at home. LC State is averaging 91.3 points per game with a .511 shooting percentage, highlighted by 113 points against Park-Gilbert on Saturday. The Warriors drained 16 3-pointers in the contest.

LC State currently leads the CCC in points per game, field goal percentage and 3-point percentage (.396). The Warriors are seventh in the NAIA in field goal percentage, 11th in 3-point percentage and 15th in points per game.

Sitara Byrd and Payton Hymas both rank in the top five in scoring average at 18.5 and 14.5, respectively, and Darian Herring leads the CCC in rebounds per game with 11.0. Through four games, Lindsey Wilson is the top player in the conference in field goal percentage (.810) and Byrd is tied for the best mark in steals per game at 3.0.

Around the Cascade Conference, the Warriors are the top-ranked team followed by Oregon Tech at No. 15. Southern Oregon and Corban (Ore.) are receiving votes.
