LEWISTON, ID — The Lewiston Civic Theatre will bring one of Broadway’s most beloved classics to the stage next month, presenting Rodgers and Hammerstein’s The Sound of Music from December 5–21.
Directed by Becci Tank, the production marks her directorial debut at LCT — the same theatre where her passion for the arts began. Tank, an actress, director, and choreographer with a BA in Theatre from Montclair State University, has worked with companies across the country and received recognition from Broadway World Awards, 5th Avenue Theatre Awards, and METRO Awards.
The musical follows Maria, a young woman whose spirited outlook and love of music take her from a convent to the home of Captain von Trapp, where she becomes governess to his seven children. Her presence brings renewed warmth and song to a household burdened by loss. Set against the backdrop of Austria on the brink of political upheaval, the von Trapp family must unite as they navigate an uncertain future.
LCT’s production features two casts for the von Trapp children — the Crisp Apple Strudel Cast and the Schnitzel Noodle Cast. Audiences can check performance dates for each cast at lctheatre.org.
