Body Recovered from Spokane River After Man Drowned While Fleeing Police

SPOKANE COUNTY, WA – The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office reports that its Emergency Operations Dive Team has recovered the body of a 42-year-old man who disappeared in the Spokane River after fleeing from Spokane Tribal Police earlier this week.

According to a Spokane Tribal Police Department release, officers attempted to contact the man on November 16, 2025. He was believed to have active warrants in Lincoln County, Stevens County, and the state of Minnesota.

The man fled on foot, leading officers on a chase that ended when he jumped over an embankment and into the Spokane River. Officers conducted an extensive visual search and requested additional resources, but he did not resurface and was presumed drowned.

On November 19, the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Operations Dive Team located and recovered his body.

Both agencies shared condolences with his family and friends.
