LEWISTON, ID — Local veterans’ organizations will come together on Sunday, Dec. 7, for the annual Pearl Harbor Remembrance Wreath Laying Ceremony at the confluence of the Snake and Clearwater rivers.
The event is organized by the Lewis Clark Valley Veterans Council in partnership with the Fleet Reserve Association Branch 63, VFW Post 10043, SGT Major Linehan Detachment Marine Corps League, Combat Veterans Association, and other LC Valley veterans groups. The ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. near the “Blue Bridge.”
According to organizers, the wreath laying will occur simultaneously with a flyover of World War II-era aircraft, weather permitting. A 21-gun salute and the playing of taps by the Marine Corps League are also scheduled.
Community members may view the ceremony from the Blue Bridge walkway or the Lewiston Levee at the Confluence. Participants joining by boat are asked to meet at 10:30 a.m. at the Southway Boat Ramp, where Asotin County and Nez Perce County sheriff’s boats will transport attendees to the ceremony site.
